The band started the recordings precisely 100 years after completion of the First World War (11/11/1918) and took 3 months of extensive work to finish the album together with their long term producer and partner Jonas Kjellgren at Black Lounge studios. AMARANTHE presently launched their fifth album "Helix" and are more than delighted to open the battle: "It is with definitely enormous levels of enjoyment that we reveal our part in SABATON's beast of a European trip next year! Another Sabaton milestone is the tune,, The End Of The War To End All Wars", which starts with a piano, violin and choir sounds, prior to it evolves into a genuine metal killer like only Sabaton can make them.
This tune sets the tone for the rest of the album as 'The Great War' is packed with catchy metal anthems like e.g.,, The Attack Of The Dead Male",,, Great War" and,,82 nd All The Way". 'The Great War' is a really varied, dynamic, powerful, heavy and even remarkable metal album and, I know it is a cliché, their best shot by far; a true metal rollercoaster that you will like to listen to consistently. As you already know 'The Great War' is a principle album about World War 1 (check out the interview with bassist Pär Sundström here) and this truly 100% pure Sabaton album is actually outstanding.
